If you are looking for a property to use for holidays you will need to think about how many people you would like to be able accommodate, the type of lifestyle you hope to enjoy on your holiday, the access that you will need and your budget.

Rising Gas & Electricity prices!

If you are looking for a property to use
for holidays you will need to think about how many people you would like to be
able accommodate, the type of lifestyle you hope to enjoy on your holiday, the
access that you will need and your budget.

The kind of lifestyle you enjoy when not
working is really important to consider.
It is all too easy when in the throes of a hectic lifestyle at home, to
think that all you are looking for is somewhere really quiet to ‘get away from
it all’. However, if you envisage frequent use of your holiday home you might
want a little more than simple peace and quiet once you have recuperated from
working life. It may be sporting activities, it may be good restaurants, and it
may be cultural activities or sophisticated shopping and bars. Whatever it is
that you look for when relaxing you need to make sure the area that you choose
can offer it. France
is an enormous country and although superficially it may seem that most areas
can offer most things, this is not the case, especially out of the summer
months of July and August.  Often, those
places that tend to be lovely for holidays ‘die’ the rest of the year. So be
careful if you are thinking of popping down to your coastal holiday home in
January, you may not find any shops open.
You will need to research carefully to ensure that your chosen
destination offers what you need, whatever time of year you want to be in your
holiday home.

Access to France
from the UK and Ireland is
becoming easier each year but not all areas are equally accessible. It may be
that you are happier to drive than fly, in which case, distances become very
important. However you intend to get to France it is wise to check out that it
is a journey which will not phase you as the years go on and that will end up
in you deciding ‘not to bother this time!’ How many holiday homes remain empty
year after year whilst the owners decide that it is easier to go somewhere else
for their break, as access to their holiday home is just too difficult?

Your budget will also, unfortunately,
determine where and what you can buy.
Different parts of France
offer different value for money and you will need to look carefully into this
to make sure you don’t have lots of wasted house hunting visits to France,
constantly finding that suitable properties are not within your price
range.  Every trip you take to France is
likely to see a reduction in your financial resources and an increase in
property prices. Time really can be of the essence if you have decided that you
are going to buy to ensure that property prices do not keep putting your ideal
home out of your financial grasp.
