According to the TIMESONLINE, the
search engine giant Google wants to conquer the world by holding people
's information. How is going to do that? Google has developed a three
steps plan to make the impossible real.
1) Become the "universal search engine"
According to Google's head of search products and user experience, Marissa Mayer:
'the web is actually very limited and primitive". Currently it is
mostly a summary of words, image and music. Google wants to innovate
web's content and be the only Search Engine to provide comprehensive
search facilities. They currently develop a new software that will have
the capacity to scan millions of news sources of information to give
richer search results.
2) Make search personal
But Google doesn't just improve the
search service, they also want to make search more personalized. With
iGoogle, the internet user's search is monitored and web surfing
history will be recorded. Signing up to iGoogle on your PC or even
using your mobile, you can search anything you want at anytime and
anywhere but don't forget as good as this sounds - they can also turn
this around and monitor every step you do. It become a real personal
service but also a way to be traceable.
3) Developing the concept of "Cloud Computing'
Step 3 to put Google's dream into
practice is implementing the concept of "cloud computing". The big G
wants internet users to create all of their documents online in order
to work on them by using Google's web based software. The user will
then be able to store these documents online on Google's vast global
network of servers instead of doing it on their computer. This will be
possible via Google Apps, Google's own web based program recently
launched. Internet user will be able to create a password, to protect
word files and spreadsheets, in order to edit and store them online .
By pursuing this dream Google will
record 'everything' we do online and store this information. So be
careful, Google is watching you !
