The popular social networking website is in need of new and innovate applications (small programs which can be integrated in the users profiles like a music sharing service or Texas HoldEm Poker). These applications need to be constantly improved and renewed as they are part of Facebook's growth and popularity. The founder of the social networking website decided to offer a grant of £125,000 to companies or individuals to develop outstanding and engaging applications. To receive this grant, finalists will be judged by a jury including Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel and Accel's Jim Breyer, the primary investors of Facebookfunds grant (fbFund). This clever move will bring many new ideas and innovation to the website. The interest in the developer community is expected to be very high as well as pretty much every programmer will be able to work with the Facebook API. Great plans - not a very new scheme as such as the main idea is of course very simple and straight forward - bringing in new members or alternatively (and probably even more important, keep existing user on the website for longer. This will help to increase revenue made with advertising. A previous article "Facebook opens profile to the public: How to Hide!', explains how the social networking site wants to profit from its members. Now the new  weapon of choice are the software developers and even Mr. Zuckerberg said: "With just a little bit of capital, a company can grow to hundreds of thousands of users,...". Anyway - the new application will be great fun to use too!http://www.tetridia.com/1020
