Next month Guardian Unlimited is set to launch a new interactive film database as part of their See Films Differently campaign. Its main objective is to get different users to interact with each other and embrace different film genres.
This new database would allow users to review and comment on films as well as adding links and films, depending on their registration type, which is at present defined as 'film rookie' or 'film buff'.
Film databases are not unheard of, but it seems to be a first for an
online newspaper. Nevertheless the Guardian will be facing competition
from other online film databases such as IMDb - Internet Movie
database, which has been around for over a decade and goes beyond
movies by including TV Programs and video games.
Guardian Unlimited's initiave is a positive one, especially in times
where we mostly have film experts telling us what is worth watching in
newspapers, is good to know the average Joe's opinion. http://www.tetridia.com/1053
